Climate change is no longer something that is happening out there and far away in the future: It is happening now, it is happening here, and the longer we wait to take action, the harder and riskier it will become.
It is the greatest crisis since the end of the Second World War - 22.5 million refugees worldwide. In 2017, one person was driven from their homes every 3 seconds because of conflict or persecution. In the face of this monumental crisis, New Zealand took in a total of 1000 refugees for the whole of 2017 – that’s less than a single hour’s worth of displacement. We can do better.
Making a submission to a select committee is a great opportunity to have your voice heard and be part of the decision-making process before a Bill becomes a new law.
Our government is giving us the chance to tell them what to do about unfair tax policies. If we don’t act now, we will continue to miss out on millions of dollars each year.
